Masters of the Atlas: Endgame System Explained

Path of Exile 2 · Runes of Aldur (0.5) · Updated September 2026

Masters of the Atlas is the new endgame progression in 0.5. It adds ascendancy-style bonuses to your endgame and lets you swap them between maps, so your atlas strategy is no longer locked in once you respec.

What Masters of the Atlas is

It is a parallel progression layer on top of the Atlas. Instead of permanently spending points on one strategy, you align with an endgame "master" who grants asymmetric, build-defining bonuses. Because you can change masters between maps, you can adapt to whatever content you are running without committing to a single build path.

How progression works

As you complete endgame content you earn access to masters and their bonuses. Choices in the endgame now offer meaningful multi-choice decisions, so you tailor the experience rather than respeccing repeatedly. The system is designed to reward trying different masters for different activities.

Which master to pick

Masters such as Jado of the Order of the Djinn and the monster hunter Hilda offer different bonuses. A common split is to use one master for fast mapping and another for bossing or crafting-heavy content. Pick the master that matches what you are doing that session, rather than sticking to one all league.

Swapping between maps

Tip: the ability to swap masters freely between maps is the biggest upside of the system. Run a mapping master for density and currency, then switch to a bossing master before a big fight. Learn the swap timing and you get the best of both.

The Atlas Passive Tree from 0.5.4 layers on top of this. Points earned there are separate from master bonuses, so you stack the two systems for more powerful endgame setups.
