Runes of Aldur League Guide: How Runes Work
The Runes of Aldur league adds a crafting system built around Remnants and Runic Recipes. It replaces a chunk of the normal loot loop, so understanding it early saves you a lot of wasted maps.

Remnants and Runic Recipes
In each area you will find a Remnant. Interacting with it lets you craft an item of your choice using Runic Recipes engraved into the slots on the Remnant. The recipes determine what kind of item and modifiers you can generate, so the loop is: find a Remnant, pick a recipe, craft the piece you need.
Runeshapes and the encounter
Depending on the Runeshapes you use, crafting triggers an encounter with tough enemies you must defeat to claim the item. Each additional runeshape increases the difficulty and the reward. This is the core risk-reward choice: spend more shapes for a better roll, but fight a harder pack to keep it.
What to craft first
Early on, favour items that fix your resists and add damage to your main skill, rather than chasing perfect rolls. The system scales well, so the best use of a fresh Remnant is often a solid weapon or an armour piece with the exact sockets you need. Once your base gear is stable, move to crafting endgame pieces with more runeshapes.
Liquid Verisium and the economy
Patch 0.5.4 added Liquid Verisium, a currency that immediately starts a Runic Remnant Encounter. It gives players a way to force crafts on demand instead of waiting for a Remnant to appear, which smooths out the economy and keeps the league mechanic relevant later in the league.
